There are a few major racing games out for the Xbox 360, but Matt James is stoked to be playing Need For Speed: Most Wanted. It\'s not the simulation experience that Project Gotham offers, which, for some gamers, is a very good thing. Take your driving skillz to the pavement against outlaw racers, avoiding cops and whipping through dynamic environments that include weather and time effects. I Like Watching You: Playing with Privacy in the Gaming Age

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology has developed a campus-wide Wi-Fi service that can track when and where you connect, recording your location for up to 12 hours. It could be the next best thing in multiplayer game matching (find a PSP or DS user nearby to hook up a game), but with cities like San Fransisco and Philadelphia already looking into municipal broadband projects, this sort of technology also raises some serious ethical questions. And after recent news of World of Warcraft\'s \"Warden\" program spying on your computer we\'re worried about these issues coming directly to videogames. Sony\'s massive blowout with spyware, rootkits, and a public backlash that will no doubt severely wound the company, will also affect in some tangential way (at best) PlayStation 3 development and launch. Aaron takes a look at these issues and probes the changing face of your gaming privacy.

DOFUS Review

Every once in awhile, a game comes along with solid gameplay and a lot to appreciate, but a very unfortunate name. I\'m remembering Seaman most specifically here. Although maybe if you say it with a native French accent, there is lesspotential for confustion. Afterall it\'s only a small twist of syllable pronounciation that separates DOFUS from a decidedly less attractive moniker. Regardless, DOFUS has a lot to offer: Tactics style RPG gameplay mixed with MMO elements all packaged in an atractive, cartoony package. With an international following and a development team dedicated to iterative improvements, DOFUS is a promising indy game project. Check out Chris Galbraith\'s review, available here.

Project Offset Preview

Every once in awhile an indy game comes along that really makes you sit up and take notice. After seeing titles like Alan Wake or Darwinia developed by independent groups without the immediate support of a publisher, we\'re not surprised to see Project Offset, an epic fantasy first-person shooter in development by four individuals who want to play a really cool game (which is the best motivation for making a game). We\'re not surprised, but we\'re definitely impressed.

Hardcore racing sim fans take note: GTR: FIA Racing is an out-of-left-field contender for the racing sim hall of fame. Built on real data from the FIA racing circuit, GTR: FIA Racing features tense simulations with some of the best opponent driver AI we\'ve ever seen in any racing title. It doesn\'t have the catalog of vehicles or the over-the-top graphics beauty of a Gran Turismo or Project Gotham, but this one has plenty of get up and go.

Bizarre Creations Releases PGR3 Technology Test with 35,000 Spectators

Bizarre Creations\' Studio Updates has offered another interesting screenshot from Project Gotham Racing 3. The image shows the Xbox 360 running Project Gotham Racing 3 with a spectator crowd of 35,000 people at one time. Each spectator is individually created, making them far more than the simple cardboard cutouts that traditionally appear in this generation\'s racing titles. Apparently the system handled the task without slowing down in the slightest. The screen is from a technology test performed by one of the PGR3 team just to see how much the Xbox 360 could handle. Not bad. Of course, you won\'t be finding 35,000 spectators per track in the actual game, but it\'s nice to see what the system is capable of.

Bizarre Creations Releases a 3-D Screenshot of Project Gotham Racing 3 for Xbox 360

Bizarre Creations has released a panoramic 3-D screenshot of Project Gotham Racing 3 for the Xbox 360. The flash-based screenshot allows you to fly around a McLaren F1 LM to see the car from all sides, and experience a number of the graphical features Bizarre Creations is so excited about, like the blurring effect that simulates the physics of an actual camera. Note the way the light reflects off the windshield, and produces an aurora when in just the right angle from the front-left of the car. The amount of detail that has gone into this game is amazing. Check it out.

Alter Ego looking for Online Gamers to Appear in Book/Art Project

Maybe it\'s because we\'re so universally tied to various Universities around the world, but the idea that video games are a form of art makes us here at GamesFirst very happy. Games should be taken more seriously as an expression of emotion, a source of social interaction, and a medium as capable of expressing ideas as TV and print. But it\'s not. Authors Tracy Spaight and Robbie Cooper are looking for MMO gamers willing to tell their tale for an upcoming book and art project, Alter Ego. Alter Ego will try to contrast real players with their online counterparts, documenting player profiles to see how they compare in both appearance and personality.
