Sonic Battle
game: Sonic Battle
review | 04/21/04 | GF! Back Catalogue 10/2004 => 1995
In a moment of brilliance, not so long ago, a development team at Sega declared, Hey! Let's do that too!?. And Sonic Battle was born. And that's not a bad thing, cause our guy Eric says there's plenty of action to be found on the GBA with Sonic Battle. With a solid adventure mode and an exciting multiplayer experience (if you can nail the logistics down), Sonic Battle is worth a look. Click here for the full review.

Wrestle Mania XIX
game: Wrestle Mania XIX
review | 10/16/03 | GF! Back Catalogue 10/2004 => 1995
THQ's WWE WrestleMania XIX features a solid wrestling engine and some decent multiplayer action, but it's all downhill from there because they forgot to add the WWE to their WWE WrestleMania. From the top rope, Eric drops a flying rhetorical elbow right here.

Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb Review
game: Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb
review | 07/06/03 | GF! Back Catalogue 10/2004 => 1995
LucasArts has finally shown a little love to their \"other\" big movie franchise. Indiana Jones and the Emperor\'s Tomb doesn\'t push any limits, and it could be more fun to play, but the classic storyline and solid construction make it more than worth a run-through for anyone partial to our fave anthropology professor. Our guy in the sky, Thomas, returns to give us the lowdown on the latest installment of Microsoft\'s venerable WWII flight sim franchise. Combat Flight Simulator 3 packs in a load of new planes, a new dynamic mission system, and some improved ground-level graphics. It\'s not revolutionary, but it is a very solid update to a well loved series. Click here for more.

Butt-Ugly Martians B.K.M. Battles Review
game: Butt-Ugly Martians B.K.M. Battles
review | 11/17/02 | Jason Frank
The B.K.M. stands for \"Butt-Kicking Mode\" and anybody already into Butt-Ugly Martians will probably appreciate the reference more than we do. Butt-Ugly Martians B.K.M. Battles for the GBA is not a bad game; it just doesn\'t offer us anything new. Derivative, but solid, gameplay abounds.

EDITORIAL - Grrrl Gamez
| 01/01/00 | GF! Back Catalogue 10/2004 => 1995
I\'ve wanted to write an editorial about female gamers for a long time now; I just didn\'t know what I wanted to say. I toyed with the idea of slamming the sexist way women are portrayed in games, mainly because I felt like complaining about how sick I am of seeing Lara Croft\'s square butt everywhere. But I realized that both sexes are hyper-idealized in video games. Metal Gear Solid wouldn\'t have had the same effect if Solid Snake was a screechy-voiced, pimply-faced, fat guy (well maybe that would be kind of fun). We live in an age of equal opportunity sexism. Women have anorexic Vogue models to look up to and men have their muscle-bound fantasies fueled by Men\'s Health and GQ. I decided that it\'s not the games or the gamers that are the problem, but the damned video game advertisers along with a strong dose of our cultural stereotypes.
