Nintendo DS Trojan: Nintendophiles Get Bricks Too
news | 10/11/05 | Shawn Rider
In a shocking turn of events (and just plain weird event in general), news comes to us through several sources of a Nintendo DS Trojan. The malicious program is known as either \"hentai loader\", \"r0mloader.zip\", or \"taihen.zip\", and is designed to \'brick\' your Nintendo DS. The program promises to load either pirated game roms or hentai (a Japanese term for pornographic comics and cartoons) on your DS when loaded using a flash rom device, which makes it possible to run homebrew applications and games on the Nintendo DS.

Burnout: Revenge
game: Burnout: Revenge
review | 09/29/05 | Tristan Mayshark
Electronic Arts\' latest update to the Burnout series, Burnout: Revenge puts the focus squarely on action and destruction. With many more routes open on each track, and some significant shifting of gameplay elements, this is a sequel that will either be very well-liked, or, if you\'re like our man Tristan, will have you returning to Burnout 3 to try to regain that je ne sais quoi of creating streets full of vehicular carnage.

This year the Birdman\'s adventures take him to a seamless model of LA. But how can that fit into a wee little handheld like the Nintendo DS? Make a different game. Tony Hawk\'s American Sk8land is a totally different game, cel-shaded, and still features all the character customization and online muliplayer capabilities we\'ve come to expect from the bigger Hawk experience. Check out the latest screens here.

Namco Opens Tales of Legendia Website
game: Tales of Legendia
news | 09/15/05 | Aaron Stanton
Namco has cut the ribbon on the teaser website for Tales of Legendia, the latest in the popular Tales series of RPGs. The Tales games have become renowned over the years for their stylized cartoon graphics, their young, well-developed characters, and the games\' real-time battle system. The website has basic information on the story, the characters, and the environments that you can expect to be adventuring through when the game releases come 2006. The last time we saw the Tales series, it was on the Nintendo GameCube in Tales of Symphonia, one of the best RPGs to ever appear on the system. Or on any system. Tales of Legendia will be released in winter of 2006 for the PS2.

Bizarre Creations Releases PGR3 Technology Test with 35,000 Spectators
game: Project Gotham Racing 3
news | 09/13/05 | Aaron Stanton
Bizarre Creations\' Studio Updates has offered another interesting screenshot from Project Gotham Racing 3. The image shows the Xbox 360 running Project Gotham Racing 3 with a spectator crowd of 35,000 people at one time. Each spectator is individually created, making them far more than the simple cardboard cutouts that traditionally appear in this generation\'s racing titles. Apparently the system handled the task without slowing down in the slightest. The screen is from a technology test performed by one of the PGR3 team just to see how much the Xbox 360 could handle. Not bad. Of course, you won\'t be finding 35,000 spectators per track in the actual game, but it\'s nice to see what the system is capable of.

Xbox 360 to Repel Hackers With Deadly Laser Beams
game: Xbox 360
news | 09/12/05 | Aaron Stanton
A member of the Xbox 360 development team has told BBC that Microsoft\'s next generation game system will be difficult to hack. We can only speculate about what that means. It also brings to mind a few other interesting attempts by companies in the past to prevent hacking, such as Nintendo\'s brilliant move to make the GameCube so unpopular that no one would care. We here at GamesFirst have figured out a fool proof hacking system, though, that works pretty much every time.

New Screens for X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse on PSP
game: X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse
news | 09/10/05 | Shawn Rider
Due in October, Vicarious Visions\' PSP version of X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse looks to be a game well worth watching. The PSP has been in a serious drought lately, with lackluster titles and very few of them. It\'s a Nintendo-like wasteland of early development for PSP owners. But X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse could be a breakout hit this Fall, especially of it features a robust (and infrastructure) WiFi mode.

Bizarre Creations Releases a 3-D Screenshot of Project Gotham Racing 3 for Xbox 360
game: Project Gotham Racing 3
news | 09/07/05 | Aaron Stanton
Bizarre Creations has released a panoramic 3-D screenshot of Project Gotham Racing 3 for the Xbox 360. The flash-based screenshot allows you to fly around a McLaren F1 LM to see the car from all sides, and experience a number of the graphical features Bizarre Creations is so excited about, like the blurring effect that simulates the physics of an actual camera. Note the way the light reflects off the windshield, and produces an aurora when in just the right angle from the front-left of the car. The amount of detail that has gone into this game is amazing. Check it out.

Bungie Asks Halo Fans to Fight the Flood
game: Halo 2
news | 09/04/05 | Shawn Rider
Bungie has made a clever t-shirt that it is selling to help out victims of Hurricane Katrina. It\'s cool because not only are they donating $15 for every $20 shirt sold directly and immediately to the American Red Cross, but the shirt is actually a clever Halo \"flood\" joke. And it\'s tasteful. Bravo Bungie. cart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=322\"" onClick="window.open( this.href, '_self' ); return false;" title="">Click view the shirt in the Bungie store.

Nintendogs: Chihuahua & Friends
game: Nintendogs: Chihuahua & Friends
review | 08/31/05 | George Holomshek
Nintendogs is a sensation that is literally sweeping the world. It started in Japan ? where it drove sales of the Nintendo DS through the roof ? and has now landed in the United States, where it looks like it might do the same. The furry balls of fluff are cute and amazingly intelligent, and you\'ll find yourself talking to them in that high-pitched squeaky dog voice we all get from time to time. If your friends and neighbors have not succumbed to the game themselves, talking to your DS will get you weird looks, but you won\'t care; you\'ll be having too much fun. Check out our full review.

Xbox 360 Bundles Have Gamers Throwing Fits
news | 08/24/05 | Shawn Rider
EB Games is the first major retailer to post their Xbox 360 preorder page and reveal that they will be selling the console in two bundles (corresponding to the two flavors Microsoft is releasing) which increase the price of each system by $300. This move does not bode well for gamers this holiday season, who are used to being forced into bad bundles in order to purchase scarce new hardware.
