Nibris Unveils New Info and Screens for ?Raid Over the River?

Polish developer Nibris spilled the beans on their upcoming Raid Over the River, an exclusive Nintendo DS and Wii two-part series. When archaeologists in Peru discover an ancient artifact, top-down aerial time-travelling combat ensues (as you probably expected). The game looks and sounds like a spiffed up River Raid, but this revamp includes the addition of touch-screen control elements (most of the game is played traditionally) and voice-activated special moves. 3D Realms Offered $500,000 to Release Duke Nukem by December 2006

Take Two Interactive renegotiated their contract with 3D Realms back in March, pulling two million dollars from the project at the same time as offering a $500,000 bonus if 3D Realms delivers by the end of the year. The $500,000 bonus is only paid if Duke Nukem Forever ships by December 31st, 2006. What does this mean for Duke Nukem? Well, it might get the title out the door. On the other hand, cutting money from the budget and then leaning on the developer to finish faster isn\'t exactly a formula for a quality game. A bonus might sound like a good idea, unless it leads to rushed development with lower standards.

Comparing the CryEngine2 to Real Life

Several months ago, a number of EvilGamer.com images began circulating around the web. Released before the launch of the Xbox 360, the images compared PGR3 screenshots to their real-life counterparts out here in the real world. Now there\'s a new image that\'s making the rounds, this time comparing screenshots from Crysis, using the CryEngine2 from CryTek, to two real-world photographs. The results are extremely impressive. Combine these visuals with CryTek\'s insistence that Crysis will push the boundaries of both storytelling and gameplay, and you have a game worth keeping an eye on. Crysis is expected to ship for the PC in the Fall of 2006.

Rockstar\'s latest title isn\'t a murder simulator or hardcore gangsta shooter. It\'s a pleasant game of Table Tennis, and it\'s really well-done. Rockstar Presents Table Tennis comes from their San Diego studio, well known for creating the Smuggler\'s Run and Midnight Club series. Sony's Phil Harrison Slams PCs, Talks Tilting, Defends Blu-Ray

Castlevania debuted on the Nintendo DS in near perfect form in Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow. The Konami release is still one of the best games available on Nintendo\'s latest handheld system. Now, Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin is gearing for another round of Dracula hunting, including a form of Co-op play and a new dual character system that encourages you to switch between characters as you play. While there are still a lot of unanswered questions about how the game will be balanced, the Castlevania sequel is certainly looking strong enough to capture our attention. A Fishy Simulation: My Sim Aquarium

Formosoft and Viva Media bring us a simulation that has some promise, but which ultimately winds up floating on the surface. My Sim Aquarium promises a simulated fish tank, complete with 48 species and loads of decorations, plants, mollusks and whatnot. This could be a cool idea, if a bit wacky, but ultimately it ends up being a lot less thrilling that we thought it would be. Check Shawn\'s review here.

The light-gun style genre might be set for a comeback in the near future. Nintendo is pressing new and unusual styles of interaction with the Wii, and shooting games reminiscent of the NES light zapper are sure to be a part of that. Not to be outdone, Namco was showing off the sequel to one of the most notable granddaddy\'s of the light-gun genre, Time Crisis 4. Traditionally released on the PS2, the Time Crisis series is looking true to form and has Rob excited after a bit of hands-on with the title at E3. Time Crisis keeps getting better with time.

The PS3 Afterthought: Hands on with Warhawk

Overall, Sony\'s PlayStation 3 area was pathetic (and less crowded than we\'ve ever seen at the Sony booth since 1999). Other than anti-aliasing issues, wonky early builds, and (at best) 360-quality graphics, there wasn\'t much to talk about. Except one thing: Sony did surprise everyone by announcing a me-too technology that adds tilt-sensitivity to the PS3 controller. How did that work out? Well, Jeremy took some time with the showcase title for the new tilt-controls, Warhawk, a flight combat game that shows how any new control element, no matter how small, can make a moderate game kind of sort of fun. Both the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Sonic contained the same features and levels. The difference between the games is where one would expect it to be-the graphics. However, the version with the best graphics is not the \"powerhouse\" PlayStation 3. Our man, Rob, runs down how the first next-gen Sonic title is coming along, and finds one of the most grievous examples of PS3 comparing unfavorably with the Xbox 360.
