With its anime influenced style, guns-blazing action, and destroy anything physics, what could go wrong? Bullet Witch is an example of a game that could have benefitted from a few more months in development. Though not without its surprises, Bullet Witch concedes to the same gameplay mechanics we\'ve been comfortable with for years. While it doesn\'t do anything really new with gameplay, it might be worth the rental if you\'re bored with everything else.

Greg Hastings\' Tournament Paintball Max\'d brings all the splatter-y excitement of the paintball arena to the Nintendo DS. First-person shooters are always popular, and the paintball games have been appreciated by parents who aren\'t comfortable blowing up their kids into meaty chunks, but still want to play some fun virtual tag. So George was excited to try out GHTP Max\'d on his favorite handheld. The verdict? Well, you\'ll have to read the review for that.

What with all the VOIP and voice chat in PC games these days, a good headset with stereo speakers and a mic are very much appreciated. Altec Lansing has delivered a solid and inexpensive product with the AHS302i headset, but the comfort factor may be enough to convince many people to go with a more expensive product. GelTabz are an unlikely must-have enhancement. They are so incredibly simple they\'ll have you wondering why more game controllers don\'t make use of their innovative design. But they are so effective that once you give them a shot, you won\'t want to play without them. As natural a fit as a baseball glove and a baseball bat, GelTabz are definitely worth a closer look. Naps Team, an indy beat \'em up developer, has announced Gekido: The Dark Angel for PSP. We would normally wait until we had much more information before talking about a game, but we remember the action of the PSOne version of Gekido, and the crazy GBA version of the game, too. These are evolutions of a classic genre, beefed up but still feeling very comfortable. In a way, Gekido can be to beat \'em ups what Guilty Gear is to fighting games, and this PSP title might just be the breakout installment in the series that gets gamers to pay attention. We\'ll keep up with Gekido\'s development, and in the meantime you can check out these teaser screens from developer Naps Team.

Lately I've been spending a lot of time with my copy of Norm Koger's The Operational Art of War, and I have a lot of nice things to say about it. It's deep, it's fun, it's got a great interface”well, OK, it's just a great game. In any case, I was happily playing along in the spiffy 2D mode, feeling nice and comfortable with the familiar board wargame look of the game, when my son looked over my shoulder and suggested we try the 3D view of the game, "you know, the one where the tanks look like tanks instead of chits of cardboard." Figuring it wouldn't hurt to humor him, I switched over to 3D, and”Great Patton's Ghost!--we were confronted with a sight to freeze one's very soul”that of the ugliness that lies at the heart of wargaming. We witnessed wraith-like infantry, indistinct vehicles, Germans wearing green uniforms, Allies grey. It was like World War II on food poisoning.

As you are by now no doubt aware, the stateside release date for the PlayStation 2 has officially been announced as October 26, 2000 at an unexpectedly low (although I did win a bet on this one against Rick) $299. As you are also by now aware, Sony is not going to ship an unlimited number of these babies. While I can\'t seem to find my notes as to exactly how many units it was, I do recall shifting a bit uncomfortably in my chair and fighting off the urge to run to the nearest phone and preorder. And why? Because every damn PSX owner in the country is going to get one of these things (unless they are completely insane or financially strapped) as soon as they hit the shelves. If you saw any footage of the Japanese release, perhaps it reminded you of a business suit version of the Cabbage Patch riots of ?84\"mobs of drooling fanatics hopped up on barely concealed consumer rage and nearly bursting bladders, refusing to leave their space in line for any but the most dire of emergencies.
