Nancy Drew: The Creature of Kapu Cave Review
game: Nancy Drew: The Creature of Kapu Cave
review | 11/19/06 | Laurie Taylor
Her Interactive has been successful with their Nancy Drew series. Rather than trying to turn Nancy into some Lara Croft wannabe, the current line of Nancy Drew mystery games focus on adventures with compelling stories and inclusive content. These are games that make an effort to represent the real world in all its diversity and they privilege science and logic over mindless combat. That fresh perspective makes us forgive them somewhat for their gameplay hiccups. Get Laurie\'s full review here.

Planes, Trains and...Trotmobiles? Steambot Chronicles Review
game: Steambot Chronicles
review | 05/29/06 | Amanda Bateman
Steambot Chronicles is the newest Atlus release for the PS2, allowing players to do anything from farming to ferrying to fighting, all on the back of a two-legged transport robot called a Trotmobile. This is definitely not your traditional console roleplaying game. Non-linear gameplay and amazing diversity of things to do has kept our gal, Amanda, busy defeating evil and buskering for UR. Lost Garden Challenges Conventional Wisdom of Game Industry
news | 11/11/05 | Shawn Rider
Danc from Lost Garden ruffled a lot of feathers with his article about Nintendo\'s Revolution controller a couple months ago (as did all the greatest gaming websites). Now he\'s come out again with another sharp bit of criticism and advice for the industry: Broaden your horizons, or remain a niche form of entertainment. It\'s easy to forget about how few gamers there really are when we put ourselves into communities where everyone shares our interests. Why is there such a crisis about getting women involved in gaming? Because ultimately, the games industry cannot survive if it does not diversify, both in the people who make games and in the people who play games. Danc\'s article is an absolute must-read for anyone who truly loves games.

twoplayer comic: How to Advertise to Women
comic | 09/11/05 | Aaron Stanton
On September 10th, 2005 the Women in Games International Conference took place in Redmond, Washington at the Microsoft Campus. It was both interesting and informative, and it\'s a pity that there are not more conferences like it; this is a step in the right direction for diversity in the game industry. GamesFirst will have more coverage of the conference later on, but in the mean time we couldn\'t help but include a comic reference. Check out this week\'s twoplayer comic, How to Advertise to Women. Too many advertisers seem to take this comic to heart.

twoplayer game comics are published every Sunday at http://comics.gamesfirst.com.

QUIZ: Are You Hardcore?
| 06/08/05 | Monica Hafer
It\'s painfully apparent that when you put a bunch of GF! writers into a crowd at E3 that many of us are not exactly what you would call \"hardcore gamers.\" At least, not as hardcore as some of the folks out there. And realizing this got us thinking about the spectrum of the gaming audience, which is always growing and diversifying in interesting ways. So in true media-mogul fashion, allow us to oversimplify and close down the vast diversity of the gaming audience into four convenient categories and present it to you as a \"get to know yourself\" quiz. It\'ll be fun, like in Cosmo (babes inside!).
