It took a while, but Sony\'s PSP was finally able to top the Nintendo DS in sales last week (January 2-8) in Japan. As reported by Joystiq, this is the first time since April of 2005 that the PSP has outsold the DS. Sony managed to move 132,757 PSPs off shelves and the DS jumped into shopping karts 91,379 times. George has the details in this News blurb.

game: Mario Kart DS
review | 11/24/05 | George Holomshek
Mario Kart is the OG Kart racer: It is the standard by which all other kart racing games have been judged, and that looks unlikely to change. Mario Kart DS brings the game to Nintendo\'s newest handheld platform, and adds online multiplayer for the first time ever. NDS owners have been hyped about this one, and the hype was justified, according to our resident Nintendophile, George, who took Mario Kart DS on a spin around the block for us.
game: Crash Tag Team Racing
review | 11/17/05 | Matt James
Crash Tag Team Racing comes a year after the old Double-Dash did in the venerable Mario Kart on Gamecube and double-dashed the hopes of many a fan. But don\'t be fooled by the immediate resemblance here: Crash Tag Team Racing might look like a Double-Dash rip-off, but in reality it has much more to offer. Combining a quality Crash platformer with zany, fast-paced racing action, Crash Tag Team Racing is unlike any other game we\'ve played. Still not convinced? OK, then, two words: Ninja Penguins. \'Nuff said. Check Matt\'s review here.

news | 11/06/05 | Aaron Stanton
We\'re only days away from the release of Mario Kart DS, the most recent iteration of Nintendo\'s popular franchise and the first DS title to use Wi-Fi to play on Nintendo\'s online service. This close to release, review copies and test builds have been making their way to various members of the gaming community, including 1UP.com, which now has an article on the Nintendo Wi-Fi adapter. The article shows screenshots of installing the software on a PC, and connecting to it via Mario Kart DS. Give it a week, and you\'ll probably be able to see these screens for yourself.

Nintendo announced on Tuesday that they would partner with McDonald\'s restaurants to provide free wifi access for Nintendo DS owners. McDonald\'s already offers wifi connectivity in 6000 locations in America, but normally charges for internet access. The deal with Nintendo provides free access to gamers using the DS. The free access, coupled with popular wifi-enabled titles like Mario Kart DS and Animal Crossing DS, could be a genuine attractor for kids, making McDonald\'s a popular hangout.

preview | 07/21/05 | George Holomshek
Fourth quarter 2005 is looking strong for the Nintendo DS, primarily with a queue of upcoming releases currently unmatched in the handheld market. game: Space Race
review | 05/20/02 | GF! Back Catalogue 10/2004 => 1995
When this game came out for the Dreamcast it was a hit. And it\'s still a super good game. Space Race on the PlayStation 2 brings back all the same tracks and characters with just a few enhancements. Bottom line: If you own the DC version, don\'t sweat this one, but if you haven\'t tried Space Race and if you like kart racers at all, click here now.
