A Boy and His Rocket Dog: Metal Saga Review
game: Metal Saga
review | 06/02/06 | Amanda Bateman
Atlus and developer Success bring us Metal Saga, a sci-fi RPG set in a post-apocalyptic world where outlaws and monsters run rampant. You play a nameless boy on a mission to save the world. Does that sound like a typical RPG plot? Absolutely. But when you add in some clever humor, plenty of minigames and non-linear extras to explore, and canine companions sporting heavy military-style rocketry, it can\'t be all bad, can it? Amanda took on the challenge of Metal Saga. Get her rerview here.

Tao?s Adventure: Curse of the Demon Seal Review
game: Tao?s Adventure: Curse of the Demon Seal
review | 04/24/06 | George Holomshek
Nintendo DS owners aren\'t going to sneeze at a good RPG for the system. But is it any coincidence that Tao\'s Adventure: Curse of the Demon Seal could be abbreviated to \"Curse of the DS?\" Not only is Tao\'s Adventure bad enough to warrant the title, but it also speaks to the trouble the DS has had in generating good RPGs (Lunar anyone?). Featuring tons of menus, wonky controls, and too many of the typical RPG tropes we expect, it doesn\'t take a game reviewer to tell you to approach this title with caution. But we went and got a game reviewer to tell you that, except with more words. We\'re like that.

game: Shadow Hearts: From The New World
review | 04/07/06 | Amanda Bateman
What do ninjas, talking cats, vampires, the mafia, shapeshifters, aliens, guitar players, monsters, and a sixteen year-old boy all have in common? A lot if we\'re talking about Shadow Hearts\' latest sequel. XSEED\'s Shadow Hearts: From the New World is both like and not like your usual run-of-the-mill RPG. We got Amanda to check it out, and she handed us this review. Check it out.

Monsterous Connections for the Xbox 360
game: Monster Cables
review | 04/05/06 | Tristan Mayshark
Monster has produced a series of cables for the Xbox 360 console, and without hesitation it can be said that they are the best 360 A/V cables presently available. The design is very nice, the cables are quite long, and the signal quality is excellent. But are they worth the extra bucks? Check in with Tristan\'s review to find out.

Hoyle Gaming in Your Hand Lacks Key Ingredient: Fun
game: Hoyle Family TV Gaming System
review | 02/21/06 | Tristan Mayshark
TechnoSource has packaged 11 Hoyle games onto a controller that connects to your TV using RCA cables. Including classics like Mahjong, Backgammon, and Old Maid, this might sound like the ultimate Hoyle Family TV Gaming System. But with strictly single-player action, jank graphics, and terrible AI, this is probably a \"family\" activity best left alone. Get the full story in Tristan\'s review right here.

Shadow Hearts 3: A Whole New World...Sort Of
game: Shadow Hearts 3: From The New World
preview | 01/20/06 | Amanda Bateman
The Shadow Hearts RPG series returns with its third installment, From The New World. Join Johnny Garland and his crew as they set out to solve the mystery of his family and past, all while mastering skills and battling monsters. All of this takes place in a funky anime version of New York in the 1920s, giving it total niche cred. This one is sure to become a cult fave and maintains the quality of the Shadow Hearts series. Resident Evil 4 for PS2
game: Resident Evil 4
review | 11/13/05 | Laurie Taylor
Resident Evil 4 is a massive lurch forwards for the quintessential survival horror franchise. A completely new control scheme makes RE4 a much more agile, fast-paced game experience, and the storyline is a refreshing departure from the old \"take out the secret Umbrella experiment\" rigmarole we\'ve gotten used to. This isn\'t your mother\'s Resident Evil game. Making its debut on the PlayStation 2 after a huge success on the Gamecube, RE4 is finding a whole new audience. Our woman Laurie gets down to business with Capcom\'s venerable old franchise, and she likes what she finds.

The Chronicles of Narnia Preview
game: Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
preview | 10/06/05 | Aaron Stanton
Sometimes it takes a movie to turn a good idea into a game. The fantasy setting of The Chronicles of Narnia is an ideal world for the basis of a video game, containing monsters, heroes, and mystical creatures. Even separated from its religious basis, the story behind the classic children\'s tales offers everything a game designer could hope for to create a rich, living environment. In November, developer Traveler\'s Tales will be releasing a video game based on the upcoming movie adaptation of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and GamesFirst! has had an opportunity to play through a preview build of the title. What we found is a game worth looking forward to. Check out our preview.

Brand New Gears of War Screens
game: Gears of War
news | 10/05/05 | Shawn Rider
Gears of War is the new shooter from Cliffy B and the crew at Epic that\'s got everyone going, \"Damn!\" The visuals here are absolutely incredible, from the dirty textures of a wartorn humanity pitted against monstrous enemies from the bowels of the Earth, to the delicate lighting effects that challenge the greatest cinematographers and most sensitive painterly visions. We can only hope that the gameplay and story live up to the huge graphical promise of Unreal Engine 3. Check out these screens for a real idea of what the Xbox 360 can do.

Sometimes games are not forgiving.
