In the battle of Xbox 360 launch titles, two contenders went head-to-head on the hardwood: NBA Live 06 and NBA 2K6. Chris Martin already reported on NBA Live\'s disappointing performance, but left us dangling on NBA 2K6\'s courtside prowess. So how does the 2K Sports title fare against behemoth EA\'s basketball baby? Rather well. Featuring a lot more material than NBA Live, and prettier graphics, NBA 2K6 is the basketball title to pick up. Check the review for the details.

Shattered Union Review
game: Shattered Union
review | 11/28/05 | Rick Fehrenbacher
While Shattered Union offers a great setting (near-future American Civil War) along with your basic old school turn-based wargaming, it doesn\'t do nearly enough with the setting, and the turn-based tactical game is unfortunately overshadowed by a god-awful campaign mode. Rick delivers the bottom line in his review.

Pinball Hall of Fame: The Gottlieb Collection
game: Pinball Hall of Fame: The Gottlieb Collection
review | 01/14/05 | Chris Martin
Not every game has to offer hours of pre-scripted gameplay, beautiful graphics, and brilliant voice acting in order to be good. In fact, sometimes what we need is a game that can be picked up, played for fifteen minutes, and then set aside without having to worry about any of those other time-consuming elements. Pinball Hall of Fame takes us a few steps down memory lane with a game that offers fun, addictive play for those times when a long-haul gaming binge just isn't what you're looking for.

Call of Duty remains a popular WWII game. Known for it's cinematic gameplay and an intense single player mode, CoD managed to topple the Medal of Honor franchise for top solo historical action. Call of Duty: United Offensive brings more solo action and enhanced multiplayer to the game, both of which are welcome additions.

Dawn of War brings Warhammer 40K out of the garage and into the den, and this is one of the few times that the translation of tabletop models to screen-based pixels manages to hold up. Of course, don\'t take my word for it: Our man, and venerable Warhammer 40K tabletop player, Rick, gives Dawn of War the future apocalypic military analysis. Click for the intel.

review | 06/28/02 | Rick Fehrenbacher
Activision follows up their cult hit with a sequel that mostly gives the fans more of the same. Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix features nicer graphics and a more robust GHOUL system (which allows you to take out your enemies piece by piece), but the gameplay remains oriented around shooting, shooting, and shooting more.
