game: Gun
review | 11/26/05 | Shawn Rider
Neversoft\'s latest offering diverges greatly from their history with the Tony Hawk franchise. Gun is a wild western that puts you in the role of Colton White as he hunts for the man who murdered his father. This is a gritty action game with plenty of awesome shootouts and gorey mutilations, and it\'s definitely something that anyone who loves Unforgiven or Deadwood ought to check out. But can Gun win over gamers to become the baddest disc your box has ever slotted? Shawn takes it for a ride and lets you know in his commplete review.
game: Tony Hawk's American Wasteland
review | 11/16/05 | Jeremy Kauffman
Tony Hawk\'s American Wasteland marks the third incarnation of the immensely popular series. Is it a worthy successor to THPS and THUG? Well, do BMX bikes and the French sport of freestyle walking, aka Le Parkour, turn you on? They should. And does a seamless recreation of Los Angeles help? It might. And what about online multiplayer for Xbox owners? It\'s about time. Veteran skate punk, Jeremy, put thumb to controller to give you this review.
game: X-Men Legends 2: Rise of Apocalypse
review | 11/11/05 | Shawn Rider
X-Men Legends 2: Rise of Apocalypse is the sequel to last year\'s breakout hit, and the return of the franchise is triumphant. The PSP version of Rise of Apocalypse features all the goodness of the home console versions, including a robust online multiplayer mode that lets you team up with players from all over the world. With a great X-Men story, super satisfying action-RPG gameplay, and loads of extras and unlockables, Rise of Apocalypse is one of the best things out for PSP right now.
game: Doom 3
comic | 11/07/05 | Aaron Stanton
The Doom movie managed to hit #1 in the box office right after its release. Since then, competition from other titles have forced it down the chart, with one magazine reporting a 120% drop less than a week after it\'s release. Don\'t ask me how that\'s possible, except that - if the charts wrap-around to the top of the screen like many old NES games - that would put them way up there at the top. Possibly one of the greatest money makers of all time. Who knows? Take a look at this week\'s twoplayer comic (
Part I and
Part II) to see which Doom-isms made a safe transition from the game to the movie.
Twoplayer game comics are published weekly at

game: Call of Duty 2
preview | 10/13/05 | Blaine Krumpe
Call of Duty 2 puts gamers back in the role of American, British, and Russian soldiers fighting for the Allies in World War II. Known for its gritty depiction of the battlefield, Call of Duty 2 amps up the realism and immersive qualities. Everything from the AI of enemies and allies to the stellar graphics and enhanced environments have been improved upon, making Call of Duty 2 one of the most hectic battlefield simulations out there. Check out Blaine\'s preview here.
news | 10/12/05 | Shawn Rider
Heavy.com has expanded its machinima offerings and broken new ground in the IPTV arena with the announcement of the first-ever full season of broadband-distributed programming. The network has announced several new shows, including \"Honey, I Killed the Geezer\" (created using Atari\'s Indigo Prophecy), \"Tourettes Cowboy\" (created using Activision\'s GUN), and \"Dr. Philprah, Colossus Whisperer\" (created using Sony\'s Shadow of the Colossus). There are several more series slated to premiere this month, and each will see multiple episodes released this Fall.
game: GUN
news | 10/06/05 | Shawn Rider
I don\'t even like westerns, but I love Deadwood. The grimy, gritty Old West environment, teetering between nature and civilization, lends itself to some gripping drama and high adventure. Plus, there\'s plenty of cursing. So I get very interested when I hear that Neversoft, one of my fave game developers, has also been watching Deadwood, and has created an entire game based in the Wild West, with the goal of expanding the open-play scenerio beyond cops and robbers. GUN will come out this Fall for Xbox, PS2 and Xbox 360. We\'ve got some XB360 screen here and a bit more about the game.
game: Tony Hawk's American Sk8land
news | 09/19/05 | Aaron Stanton
This year the Birdman\'s adventures take him to a seamless model of LA. But how can that fit into a wee little handheld like the Nintendo DS? Make a different game. Tony Hawk\'s American Sk8land is a totally different game, cel-shaded, and still features all the character customization and online muliplayer capabilities we\'ve come to expect from the bigger Hawk experience. Check out the latest screens here.
game: X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse
news | 09/10/05 | Shawn Rider
Due in October, Vicarious Visions\' PSP version of X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse looks to be a game well worth watching. The PSP has been in a serious drought lately, with lackluster titles and very few of them. It\'s a Nintendo-like wasteland of early development for PSP owners. But X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse could be a breakout hit this Fall, especially of it features a robust (and infrastructure) WiFi mode.
game: Quake IV
news | 09/07/05 | Shawn Rider
We know a few things about Quake IV: The single-player mode returns and has you fighting among the soldiers fending off the oncoming Strogg onslaught. The game runs on the Doom 3 engine, and it looks amaazing. And by all accounts from this summer\'s QuakeCon 2005, the multiplayer kicks @$$.
game: The Movies
news | 09/01/05 | Shawn Rider
Lionhead Studios has announced The Movies Online, the online movie-sharing component of their upcoming PC title, The Movies. The Movies lets you be a movie mogul and key figure in the formation of your own private Hollywood. Wow, that would make a twisted Keanau Reeves movie. But we digress... Get the skinny on The Movies\' machinima filesharing service right here.
game: True Crime: New York City
news | 08/21/05 | Shawn Rider
Activision and Luxoflux have been letting the love flow this month with the launch of the new True Crime: New York City website. Now they\'re following up with some brand new screenshots. We\'ve got the new screens and some catch-up screens from a few weeks ago all posted up for you.
game: Fantastic Four
review | 08/20/05 | Eric Bodrero
Generally, \"movie\" video games fare rather poorly, as has been the case for years, but with some recent standouts, especially in the comic-to- movie-to- game adaptation category, there\'s a growing precedent for quality. So does Fantastic Four break the mold, or fall victim to yet another rushjob? Grab your spandex and jump on in for your answer.
game: Doom 3
review | 06/07/05 | Laurie Taylor
Doom 3, love it or hate it, brought with it a new dimension to the series and a new benchmark in graphics. The PC version was a straight up, linear, slaughter-fest. The XBox version is boasting co-op multiplayer over LIVE, so how does this Doom stack up? Laurie has the scoop.
game: E3 2005: X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse
preview | 05/30/05 | George Holomshek
X-Men Legends was a popular title, and X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse looks to be a significant improvement. New features and gameplay elements should satisfy both hardcore X-Men fans as well as the general gaming audience.
