Click to read.Namco\'s anime-fantasy RPG Tales of Legendia will soon be on its way to the American PS2 consoles, adding another chapter to the Tales series. At first glance it seems to blend in with the rest of the fantasy RPG\'s of the past, but ToL is actual quite unique in some aspects.

Tales of Legendia boasts an interesting take on the real-time battle system, and adds an element that I have personally been looking forward to seeing in RPGs: fighting game attributes. In Tales of Legendia, the XLiMBS (which stands for cross-over linear motion battle system) will allow the 3D enemy sprites to be grabbed and thrown, unlike other RPGs where battle consists only of ranged magic attacks and simple punches to the gut. Trust me, it gets boring seeing enemies react the same way to an attack...and I think this will make it all the more enjoyable.

The battle system will also require strategy in the use of eres. Successful attempts in mastering them will help your party to pull off combos, and combos increase the amount of EXP you\'ll receive.

The story centers on two siblings, Senel and Shirley Coolidge, who have washed up on a mysterious island. However, the island ISN\'T an island; it\'s a giant ship in the middle of the ocean. Dry land, or in this case dry ship, is always a good thing after being afloat, but this wouldn\'t be a game without conflict. The enemies in the game are after Shirley, who is rumored to be a Merines who is capable of piloting the ship. Therefore it\'s up to Senel, who is luckily a trained fighter, to keep his little sister out of harm\'s way.

Tales of Legendia has already been released in Japan, and the debut in the States will take place in early February. In the meantime the official website provides lots of fun things to keep you entertained, including contests, a mini-game, and downloadable goodies like wallpaper, character art, and buddy icons.

Tales of Legendia has recently \"gone gold,\" which means it is in production and should be on store shelves shortly.
