Click to read. The summer is traditionally an extended draught of gaming news, but there\'s one time of the summer that\'s particularly bad. Fourth of July. Everyone in the United States tends to be outside for the fireworks, and going to the local swimming pool with friends and family becomes more welcoming than a run of Oblivion.

Web traffic slows to a crawl, PR releases don\'t leave the office because most everyone working with the U.S. media takes the day off.

E-mails go unanswered (but not unread, because we\'re addicts). News stories go unedited. Intelligent editorial game commentary takes a second seat for a day to matches and little cardboard tanks that explode.

It\'s a perfect time to take a moment away from games, if there is ever a perfect moment. We here at GamesFirst love games more than most, but it never hurts to diversify your time a little. Take the night off, turn off the game console, and take a moment to sit out under the darkening sky. Right now would be a perfect time, probably.

The air has cooled, and though the stars aren\'t out yet, they will be soon. There are many wondrous elements in life; make sure you take the time to experience many of them.

Happy Birthday to everyone. Here\'s to learning as we grow up, and doing better tomorrow than we\'ve done today.

Happy Fourth of July, 2006.
