Pirates of the Burning Sea Goes Open Beta
game: Pirates of the Burning Sea
preview | 12/05/07 | Jamie Gergen
It\'s 1720 A.D. and the seas of the Carribean are the new battlefront for the powers of Europe. Pirates, Privateers, and Free Traders cruise the waters in search of their fortunes, while Navy ships of the line keep as much order as one can with fleets of Pirates sailing their dark colors from the mast. Like pages from a Patrick O\'Brien novel, Pirates of the Burning Sea brings the life on the sea to your computer with fantastic success.

Lost Planet Review
game: Lost Planet
review | 02/15/07 | Chris Martin
Capcom has been firing on all cyllinders when it comes to the Xbox 360 and gamers with that small white box could not be happier. Following their critically received efforts of Dead Rising, Lost Planet is a third-person shooter set on the fictitious ice-planet E.D.N. III where there are snow pirates around every corner and loads of alien Akrid. This unique IP blends a \"vastness\" found in sci-fi novels like Frank Herbert\'s Dune with an overly complex (the word would be: incomprehensible) storyline. What you get is an action-filled shooter that manages, once or twice, to even shoot itself in the foot.

Pre-E3 Bethesda Softworks Round-Up
preview | 05/02/06 | Matt James
Bethesda Softworks has a verified hit on their hands with Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. So the natural question we have for the company is, \"What\'s next?\" Not much is known so far about future Oblivion updates and expansions, although we expect to see some of that at E3, too. So far Bethesda has announced they will show off a new Pirates of the Caribbean title (to coincide with the movie) and two new Star Trek titles (one for PC/XB360 and the other for PSP/DS). Matt James rounds up the details we know so far, and we\'ve got some Trek screens.

Space Pirates is another of the video-based videogames released by American Lasergames for systems like 3DO, Phillips CD-I, and Sega CD. Digital Leisure has been reissuing these games formatted for any DVD-capable system, including PC, Mac, DVD players, Xbox, and PS2. Designed to play with a light gun or a DVD remote, this title attempts to make anything with a DVD into a game system. Check out the review to see if this is one to put on your must-play list this summer.

Sid Meier's Pirates!
game: Sid Meier's Pirates!
review | 12/15/04 | Jason Frank
Pirates! doesn't let you play as the dirty, honor-less dogs that probably really roamed the high seas, but who wants to play as them anyway? Sid Meier takes us through a delightful rendition of what pirates should have been; driven by passion for love, revenge, and gold. First read our review, then run out and find yourself a copy. This game is a classic.

Pirates of the Caribbean Preview
game: Pirates of the Caribbean
preview | 06/05/03 | GF! Back Catalogue 10/2004 => 1995
Bethesda is sticking with their proven formula of creating very deep RPGs with very pretty graphics and hundreds of hours of gameplay. Pirates of the Caribbean merely shares the name of the film; make no mistake that this is really a stand-alone game hoping to attract some duly deserved attention with name recognition. And there\'s no doubt that this is a contender for best pirate game ever.

Pirates: The Legend of Black Kat Review (Xbox)
game: Pirates: The Legend of Black Kat
review | 05/29/02 | Aaron Stanton
Aaron got his turn on Pirates: The Legend of Black Kat, this time on the Xbox, and his evaluation is pretty much the same as Jeremy\'s opinion of the PS2 version. How can you have a scene like the one at right and not have more of a sense of humor in your game? Click.
