BioShock BioShock BioShock Bioshock...BioShock!
game: BioShock
news | 08/29/07 | Chris Martin
Tired of news about BioShock? We hear you. While our review is still baking in the oven, getting crispy on the edges, we came across a neat little factoid for all you fans of the old jest: \"My game is better, ha, ha!\" For it appears that BioShock not only has become critically received as one of the best games of all time, not only this year. According to www.Gamerankings.com, Bioshock has supplanted Resident Evil 4 in the #4 highest ranked game of all time, just below The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64), Soul Calibur (DC), and Metroid Prime (GC).

And I Start Thinking of Killing Kombies: One Gamer's Struggle for Daily Survival
game: Dead Rising
editorial | 08/02/06 | Chris Martin
\"In Dead Rising, coming August 8th for the Xbox 360 game console, players follow the efforts of ambitious photojournalist Frank West as he investigates the strange happenings at the Willamette Parkview Mall only to find that more than just the Chinese food in the Food Court has been rotting...\" We\'re so happy for a return of the zombie game that we tied Chris to his computer chair with bailing wire (left over from the last time a gamer defected) and forced him to write about what makes a zombie a zombie. By the end of the three-day period Chris, a little pale from lack of food, fell over trying to lunge at us with ominous moans. He bit a big chunk out of Aaron\'s arm as he tried to post this.

Vile Lair Download for Oblivion Merges Haven with Utility in a Package You Won't Want To Miss
game: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
news | 07/12/06 | Chris Martin
True to their word, Bethesda isn\'t done with updating their magnum opus The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. The latest update is a \"vile lair\" for all you thieves, assassins, and rogues, and even if you\'re just plain evil. It\'s got all you could ever want to feed your bloodlust: evil shrines, evil minions, and even a pen of cattle to feed on. Bloodlust be damned. It might not have a coded fix for some of the bugs in the game, but you\'ll be surprised if it doesn\'t have one of the most coveted cures in all of Tamriel. If you thought the Wizard\'s Tower was cool, you\'re going to love this.

RTS+RPG=F-U-N, a Review of SpellForce 2: Shadow Wars
game: SpellForce 2: Shadow Wars
review | 07/01/06 | Blaine Krumpe
Blending RPG and RTS elements, SpellForce 2: Shadow Wars puts you in command of an army tasked with defending the known world from utter evil. OK, so the innovation doesn\'t exactly carry through to the narrative plot. Regardless, if you love RPGs and you love real-time strategy, then you will likely love SpellForce 2\'s hybrid. From masses of ground forces to aerial assaulting mythological creatures, SpellForce 2 manages to add a little bit of everything without spoiling the soup. Check out Blaine\'s review here.

Comparing the CryEngine2 to Real Life
game: Crysis
news | 06/07/06 | Aaron Stanton
Several months ago, a number of EvilGamer.com images began circulating around the web. Released before the launch of the Xbox 360, the images compared PGR3 screenshots to their real-life counterparts out here in the real world. Now there\'s a new image that\'s making the rounds, this time comparing screenshots from Crysis, using the CryEngine2 from CryTek, to two real-world photographs. The results are extremely impressive. Combine these visuals with CryTek\'s insistence that Crysis will push the boundaries of both storytelling and gameplay, and you have a game worth keeping an eye on. Crysis is expected to ship for the PC in the Fall of 2006.

Planes, Trains and...Trotmobiles? Steambot Chronicles Review
game: Steambot Chronicles
review | 05/29/06 | Amanda Bateman
Steambot Chronicles is the newest Atlus release for the PS2, allowing players to do anything from farming to ferrying to fighting, all on the back of a two-legged transport robot called a Trotmobile. This is definitely not your traditional console roleplaying game. Non-linear gameplay and amazing diversity of things to do has kept our gal, Amanda, busy defeating evil and buskering for UR. Dead Rising Preview and Hands-On with some Maladroit Zombies
game: Dead Rising
preview | 05/28/06 | Chris Martin
While we\'ve had our fill of space-age RPGs and the like, taking a tire iron to the face of a walking undead never becomes antiquated. Capcom\'s phenomenon Dead Rising is looking better than ever, with fixed framerate issues and polished, open-ended gameplay, not to mention the ability to smash a zombie with literally everything and anything you can get a hold of. It\'s \"Shawn of the Dead\" meets \"Resident Evil\" in Capcom\'s most promising IP since \"Devil May Cry.\"

preview | 05/10/06 | Chris Martin
Fans of being evil, rejoice! The sequel to the morality breaking game (or making, but that\'s no fun) Fable and Fable: The Lost Chapters for the Xbox has been announced for the Xbox 360. We couldn\'t be happier. Finally, Peter Molyneux\'s team of jokesters and homage heralds are hard at work on the sequel to one of the most promising (and overhyped) games ever to grace a console. And we got the first look! Here\'s what we know about Fable 2!

Pre-E3: Lost Planet Preview
game: Lost Planet
preview | 05/01/06 | Chris Martin
E3 is on the horizon, and we\'re all aching to see what is coming down the road for the future of gaming. Right now the inventive minds behind Onimusha and Devil May Cry are working hard on Lost Planet for the Xbox 360. Large robots played a role in the launch of the original Xbox with MechAssualt, and now Capcom hopes to use big robots again to push the Xbox 360 firmly into the next generation of gaming. With seamless environments and a mix of gameplay styles (in-Mech and on foot), Lost Planet might be just the thing to keep the Xbox 360 fresh and selling strong come December. Though it\'s a ways off, we\'re still eager to play some of this incredible looking actioneer. Read why inside!

Guardian Heroes: A Sega Saturn Classic
game: Guardian Heroes
review | 02/22/06 | RJ Brooks
Guardian Heroes is the true definition of a diamond in the rough. Sure, Playstation had Wipeout, Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid and the rest, but it never had Guardian Heroes, and for some gamers, nothing else mattered. The latest installment in his six-part retrospective on legendary 2D action game developer Treasure is Robert\'s review of the 1996 cult classic, Guardian Heroes. Find out why some gamers still maintain Saturn systems to play this game in its native format.

Comparing PGR3 Screens to Real-life Locations
game: Project Gotham Racing 3
news | 01/12/06 | Aaron Stanton
People talk about photo-realistic environments, but we rarely come close to seeing it. Well, at least from a distance, it\'s pretty clear that Project Gotham Racing 3 on the Xbox 360 comes very, very close. Evilgamerz.com has posted some photos comparing in-game locations to their real-life counterparts, and the result is very cool. We only wish we had thought of doing it first. While we\'re not savvy enough to know exactly where each one of these locations are (besides being in Japan), it\'s clear that PGR3 shows them off with near photo-realistic accuracy. Very impressive.
