game: The Simpsons Game
review | 04/06/08 | Shawn Rider
The Simpsons are a perennial videogame topic. Many of the games created in the franchise are utterly forgettable. (Anyone up for a round of Simpsons Wrestling? Didn't think so...) But there have been a few well-done Simpsons games: Simpsons Hit and Run (a GTA clone) and The Simpsons Road Rage (a Crazy Taxi clone) were both enjoyable. The Simpsons Game isn't a direct rip-off of any particular game. It sticks to a platform/action approach and uses the whole world of videogames for its satirical fodder. The result is a Simpsons game that may be slightly less polished in terms of gameplay but is easily the game that feels most like a real Simpsons episode. Check out our review for more.
game: God of War: Chains of Olympus
review | 03/31/08 | Shawn Rider
Everyone's favorite bloodthirsty Spartan is back, and, as usual, he's pissed. In this prequel to the other two God of War titles, you'll help Kratos save the planet from eternal darkness. God of War: Chains of Olympus delivers the same insane action and impeccable quality of the previous PlayStation 2 editions, and that is an accomplishment for a title with both a brand new developer (the capable Ready at Dawn) and a brand new console. This is the best reason so far to blow the dust off your PSP. Check out our review.

The other day we posted about BioShock's new DLC, stating new plasmids and the ability to turn off vita-chambers. There's more, don't worry. We've got the details on the new plasmids, as well as the answer to "what the hell does Horizontal FOV actually do?" While 2K ponders a sequel to BioShock, we can, at least, enjoy the bliss that is the first, again, if we so desire, we and our brass balls.
game: Pirates of the Burning Sea

It's 1720 A.D. and the seas of the Carribean are the new battlefront for the powers of Europe. Pirates, Privateers, and Free Traders cruise the waters in search of their fortunes, while Navy ships of the line keep as much order as one can with fleets of Pirates sailing their dark colors from the mast. Like pages from a Patrick O'Brien novel, Pirates of the Burning Sea brings the life on the sea to your computer with fantastic success.

game: Kane and Lynch
news | 11/30/07 | Chris Martin
If this is true, Gamespot will be allegedly losing one of it's finest reviewers
over a critically mediocre game
, Kane and Lynch: Dead Men.
Primotech stated yesterday that Jeff Gerstmann, 10 year veteran on Gamespot.com, has been fired.
According to a fellow Gamespot contributor and close friend of Gerstmann who wished to remain anonymous, the editor was fired Wednesday morning because of his negative review of the game, which he awarded a 6.0. Comparably speaking, Metacritic lists Kane and Lynch as currently having a 68% average from critics.
Although Primotech admits there might be other reasons for Gerstmann's leave, but as of now there have been no announcements by Gerstmann.
game: Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock
review | 11/21/07 | George Holomshek
Harmonix may have moved on to Rock Band, but the Guitar Hero franchise still goes strong. The third Guitar Hero features online play, a great song list, and the best fake guitar money can buy. But did Tony Hawk developer Neversoft shred this one up too much? Do a few glaring issues keep this hero from saving the day?

E For All made its debut last month, attempting to be the more democratic, "everyman's" convention in the videogame industry. While its stature was smaller than E3 had been in the past, it certainly had a heck of a lot of heart. Monica was our eyes and ears on the scene of what might be the herald of a new focus in the world of game marketing and development.

game: Project Gotham Racing 4
review | 10/24/07 | Chris Martin
Fans of racing games take note: Project Gotham Racing 4 is a dream come true--lots of exotic cars, tons of tracks, weather effects, Bulldog Mode, and a rock-solid career mode to boot. Oh yeah, and motorcycles. PGR4 might be working a gamer niche that is already supersaturated by the likes of Forza, PGR3, and Burnout. But it still manages, despite it's competition, to be a furiously enjoyable racer with more variety than it perhaps knows what to do with.
game: Halo 3
review | 10/08/07 | Chris Martin
You've been watching The Ticker, you've seen the reviews, you've been playing the game. Halo 3 has had a phenomenal launch, selling over 2 million copies in the first night of release. We've taken the good Master Chief into the heart of the ark, killed hundreds of thousands of Covenant, and rescued Cortana from the clutches of the Gravemind. Now here's our review of the most anticipated videogame of 2007. Is Halo 3 still the reason to own an Xbox 360?
news | 09/22/07 | Chris Martin

This pack is substantially meatier than the last one, including various cars from seven different manufacturers. A few Civics, two Lambos, and even a Saturn come our way this week. But for all you Le Mans fans, the gorgeous 2006 Audi R10 (#8 Audi Sport Team Joest) Prototype will be enough to entice you.
game: Gears of War
editorial | 09/20/07 | Chris Martin
Gears of War is considered one of the best shooters on the Xbox 360, scratch that, one of the best shooters period. But But Epic's gruesome stop-and-popper is still second best on Xbox Live losing to a last generation Halo 2. It's a great game, sure, but it has problems. Serious problems. Find out why Chris would be so quick to toss GoW to the wind, perhaps you sympathize.

While we here in Seattle get to watch the Mariners crumble in what was a pretty decent year, we also get front page Microsoft news, regularly. Today, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported
that the European Court of First Instance, in a move upholding key elements of the March 2
004 European Commission Decision, declared the American company responsible for misusing it's Windows monopoly. Specifically, the company packages Windows Media Player with their Windows software, a la
trojan horse, allowing market dominance of the software. Microsoft to EU court: "the decision on the Media Player opens a dangerous precedent for other companies and sectors. Airbus should start worrying about adding new features to their planes."

This article came by way of Shacknews
, but originated from Pro-G
who reported (citing some insider info) that Sony is likely to announce at TGS a new Dual Shock (we are only on #2
, at this point) in an effort to cover their bloodied SIXAXIS tracks right into your living room. The rumored "update" looks an attempt to curb the potty mouths of internet users and Sony bashers everywhere, and comes hot off negotiations with rumble manufacturers (and patent holders) Immersion
. And it's about damn time, since the PlayStation pioneered rumble anyway. Now that rumble is being reconsidered in the PS3, is it enough? Will it be enough? We give our two cents.
