With the Xbox 360 only a few weeks away, the next generation consoles are about to begin the process of officially becoming this generation. With all the energy building up around the pending 360 release, it\'s not surprising that the Nintendo faithfull are speculating about what their system is going to play like. We\'ve all seen video, but very few have had any chance to really sit down with the Nintendo controller. Well, one creative gamer assembled a Nintendo Revolution controller out of pieces and parts of computer equipment he had around the house. Then he played Half-Life 2 with it. Blizzard\'s annual gathering, BlizzCon, is happening in Anaheim, CA this weekend. So far announcements include more details about the WoW expansion The Burning Crusade, as well as more info about Starcraft: Ghost multiplayer. In addition, there\'s all sorts of BlizzCon wackiness. Plus, we\'re still hoping to hear more about the rumored Diablo III MMO for Xbox 360. What?! Yeah, that\'s the word on the street, according to the folks who run WoW Guru and affiliated sites. Zelda II was the last official Zelda title released on the NES in the United States, but there\'s speculation that maybe a third title existed, or was at least under development before the series was transferred to the SuperNES. Recently, a gamer claimed to have found a Legend of Zelda III NES cartridge at a flea market containing an unfinished build of the third Zelda installment. What unfolded was a series of events that include eBay listings, accusations of fraud, and an official denial of involvement from none other than the Canadian development company Silicon Knights. The cartridge ultimately sold for $3000 CAD (about $2500 USD). Or did it? We take a look at the time-line of events.

Every once in awhile an indy game comes along that really makes you sit up and take notice. After seeing titles like Alan Wake or Darwinia developed by independent groups without the immediate support of a publisher, we\'re not surprised to see Project Offset, an epic fantasy first-person shooter in development by four individuals who want to play a really cool game (which is the best motivation for making a game). We\'re not surprised, but we\'re definitely impressed.

Why are we always such suckers for this viral marketing stuff? Sony (or somebody working for Sony) has created an utterly believable Typepad blog called Giantology, which features images and videos shot by \"scientists\" and \"enthusiasts\" all over the world. What is in said images and videos? Just some fossilized and otherwise dessicated remains of things that look an awful lot like the Colossi from Sony\'s recent release, Shadow of the Colossus. There\'s some fun stuff on the site, so check it out.

A developer known as Fanjita has released a version 2.0 homebrew loader for PSP, which brings Sony vs. The Hackers pretty much even again: Now, you can load your PSP up with the latest games (which are requiring you to have version 2.0 firmware) and you can play your homebrew games, applications and emulators. Plus, you get the new version 2.0 features including the much-appreciated web browser. But don\'t go jamming that X-Men Legends 2 UMD in your machine and update all willy-nilly. There\'s a method to upgrading your PSP.

Pepsi Invaders (aka Coke Wins) is an ultra-rare Atari 2600 cartridge that was given to Coca-Cola employees in the early 1980s. Only 125 copies of the game were ever produced, without labels or boxes. Needless to say, this game scores a full 10 on the AtariAge.com rareness meter. A copy of the game surfaced and was recently sold on eBay for $1,825. That\'s a spendy Space Invaders clone.

Aspyr is not one of the biggest publishers, but with some solid games under their belt (Lego Star Wars was a groundbreaking title), they\'ve put out some great experiences. The highly anticipated Stubbs the Zombie: Rebel Without a Pulse is an incredible effort. Built on the Halo engine, Stubbs the Zombie features some rock-solid gameplay that is good, wholesome, gory fun for zombie fans. Darwinia is an indy game that really shows how cool indy games can be. Set in a strange computer cyber world, Darwinia takes some of the coolest gameplay and graphics elements we\'ve seen in games and combines them into a really wonderful package that feels sharp, stylish, and is immensely playable. Fans of RTS and tactical squad-based games should definitely check out Darwinia, and anyone who loves that retro computer graphics look will be blown away by Darwinia\'s retro-future visuals. As the Xbox 360 begins to show up around the country in retail kiosks gamers are frothing for a chance to get some hands-on time with the system. To assist you in finding a retail location with an Xbox 360 kiosk, someone has created a Frapper map that charts the locations of retail 360 kiosks by plugging into Google maps. Users can add waypoints, comments and images. There is a severe lack of imagery, though, so gamerss with phonecams, get ye to the local megalomart. And then post them up on the Xbox 360 Retail Kiosks Map.

Kuma War is bringing Saddam\'s trial to virtual life. Just released is the first in a series of episodes featuring the events of Saddam Hussein\'s life which are under scrutiny in his trials. The first episode corresponds to the current trial, and is called \"The Crime of Dujail: Saddam\'s Revenge.\" In 1982, Saddam\'s motorcade was attacked, and Saddam is reported to have ordered the public executions of 143 villagers and the imprisonment of 1500 more Iraqis. Kuma War\'s recreation focuses on the motorcade ambush as players try to assassinate the dictator. And Kuma Reality Games believes these episodes to be so valuable as an educational tool that they are giving them away for free. Read more here.

ideo Kojima has officially joined the blogosphere.

It\'s a classic example of bringing some everyday humanity to a legendary figure, and reading Kojima\'s descriptions of checking email while eating lunch and the light reflecting from Tokyo\'s Roppongi Hills brings a real sense of the man behind the Metal Gear Sol
id franchise. And on some days Kojima is doing things like getting his copy of Hard Boiled autographed by Frank Miller. It\'s a bit surreal, and should be a must-read for any Kojima acolytes. Check it out.
