The winner of
the PaRappa the Rapper 2 Rhyme Contest, and the reigning rap champion of GamesFirst! is
Karl "Kapt. Buzz" Strode. His entry combined amazing musicmaking ability with
the serious lyrical skills. We can quibble about a lot of details in this world, but one
undeniable truth is that this rhyme beats everything else. We offer big congratulations to
Kapt. Buzz. Enjoy your brand new PlayStation 2 and your free copy of PaRappa the Rapper 2.

Honorable Mentions
As we announced at the start of
this contest, judging was conducted throughout. Finalists were determined at regular
intervals in the contest, based on the entries we had at the time. However, at the
eleventh hour we received a bunch of really great entries and could not award all of them
a prize. So as some small consolation we are providing some of the best sound files for
download.

Below is the original write-up of the contest
on our site. The PaRappa the Rapper 2 Rhyme Contest is now closed -- no more entries will
be accepted.
Sony has kicked us down five copies of Parappa the Rapper 2 and a Sony
PlayStation 2 to give away to some lucky GamesFirst! readers. However, to win this amazing
prize package you must work.
Do you think you have what it takes to step
up to the mic? Sure, pressing buttons in time with the music is one thing, but what about
your compositional and lyrical abilites? How do they measure up? This is the chance for
all of you wanna-be rappers out there to show us what you've got. You got rhyme? Then give
it up. Send in your best rap and you can be a winner.
The Competition:
Write a rap (or freestyle if
that's your thing) in which you mention "PaRappa the Rapper" and
"PlayStation." You can gain bonus points by maintaining a videogame flow and
working in other keywords like "Sony" and "GamesFirst!" Record
yourself, with or without musical accompaniment, and send it in to us in MP3 or WAV
format.
Over the next five weeks we will
choose Finalists from the pool of entries. These Finalists all win a copy of PaRappa the
Rapper 2 for PlayStation 2, and each week we will post the winning rap on GamesFirst!
After the five Finalists have been chosen, we will choose a Champion from the winning
entries who will win a brand spankin' new Sony PlayStation 2.
Sweet Deal -- How Do I Enter?
Good question. Send your entries
to us via the link below. Before you go getting all up on the microphone, there are a few
finer points you might want to keep in mind:
You MUST use the words
"PaRappa" and "PlayStation" in your rhyme to win.
Your rap can be as long and
intricate as you'd like (you may use background music, but you don't have to). However,
your MP3 file must be under 1MB (that's One MegaByte). If your rhyme is short, a WAV file
should work just fine.
Entries sent in a format other
than MP3 or WAV may or may not be listened to.
Be sure to include your name,
email address, and shipping address in your email to us.
By sending your entry to us,
you assert that it is the product of your own talent. Entries suspected of being
plagiarized or violating copyright will be discarded.
Those are the basics. We look
forward to hearing what you come up with. So what are you waiting for? Click that link
(and don't forget to attach your file).

Finalists will be announced throughout the runtime of the
contest. The grand prize winner will be announced on April 8, 2002.
