The Da Vinci Code was and is one of the best mystery books ever published. By combining historical references with symbolic knowledge and a bit of reasoned speculation, The Da Vinci Code paints an engrossing image of traditional Western theology. In many ways, it\'s the ultimate mystery. Now, 2K Games has released the first screenshots of the video game based on the movie, which of course, is based on the book. How well the story will translate into either movie or game is yet to be seen, but some of us here at GF have high hopes; The Da Vinci Code\'s depth makes it perfect for an art medium that can combine pictures, interactive discovery, and an experience longer than 3 hours.

It\'s been a little while since the release of the Xbox 360 in November of last year, and some of us are starting to feel a little thirsty for new games. Ubisoft decided to remind us what we\'re all waiting for by releasing screenshots of their upcoming Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter. This tactical shooter for both the Xbox and the Xbox 360 is looking to be - potentially - one of the best releases of the year. Of course, this wouldn\'t be the first Tom Clancy based game to look good, and then play poorly. Time will tell, but it doesn\'t hurt to salivate a little.

Slitherine Strategies recently hit GF! with the very respectable Legion Arena, a Roman-themed strategy war title with a shallow learning curve and some surprisingly good gameplay. Now, they are hard at work on Cult of Mithras, an expansion to Legion Arena that combines ancient history and ancient mythology. Now you\'ll pit Roman legions against armies of ghosts, shadow warriors, or fire demons, and fight for your gods as you battle your way to Elysium. Featuring enhanced graphics noticeably better than the original game, the latest screens from Cult of Mithras look great. Check them out here.

Age of Conan - Hyborian Adventures has been generating some good interest from gamers, and with a cool franchise that definitely lends itself to action RPG gameplay, and some unique online components, Conan could be a very popular title. Contrary to comments made by Sony Vice President Phil Harrison in November of 2005, Playstation Magazine is reporting that Sony Entertainment is busy at work creating an online service designed to rival Xbox Live. This is good news for Sony fans that were concerned the PS3 might carry over the PS2\'s continuing online strategy... which means none. Sony has repeatedly committed itself to taking the PS3 online, but has released little information about how they plan on doing that. Assuming Phil Harrison wasn\'t lying in November, we can only assume that the Playstation\'s online system will still be mostly up to developers, not Sony itself. Sony, of course, won\'t comment on rumors.

From the \"Worlds Collide\" newsbin, it looks like Capcom and Ubisoft are cozying up for some cross-platform releases. Ubisoft has just announced a deal with Capcom to release Resident Evil 4, Onimusha 3: Demon Siege, and Devil May Cry 3: Dante\'s Awakening Special Edition for the PC. These are three large console games, but will the PC gaming public take it all in stride? Get the details here.

Ubicom, who made the Stream Engine chip that is used to shape your broadband traffic in the D-Link DGL4300 Gamer Lounge router, has now released a free utility to check your online playability. The OPScore utility is a quick way to get a more robust fix on your online connection speed than most bandwidth testers, but it still runs in-browser (even if that browser is IE because of the ActiveX requirements, which is whack). George has a more complete summary of what OPScore offers, plus links to the free software.

Sony Online Entertainment sends word that Untold Legends: The Warrior\'s Code has gone gold and is on-target for a March 13 release date. That\'s almost exactly a year after the launch of the PSP and the first in the Untold Legends series. The first time out, Untold Legends was good, but a bit boneheaded and low on the charisma points. This time out, SOE has taken great pains to make Warrior\'s Code more appealing on virtually every level, plus it now features true online multiplayer. Get more on Warrior\'s Code as well as some spiffy new screens right here.
